Social media Terms of Use

This policy covers all our social media channels and the accompanying groups and forums.

Please note, unless messages are posted by Lymphoma Action they are the opinion of the contributor, not of the charity itself.

Our social media groups are open to anyone over 18 years of age affected by lymphoma across the UK.

The aim of our social media channels and groups is to provide a safe and friendly environment where users can share information and offer mutual support.

Please be aware that because of the nature of the illness, users need to be mindful and respectful of any content which may cause upset or offend fellow users.

Please be polite and respect others at all times.

We will not tolerate bullying of any kind. Any discriminatory, abusive, suggestive, offensive, oppressive, intimidating or threatening language, or any profanity, will be removed. Any inappropriate or graphic images will be removed.

We would encourage any user who has objections to a particular message to contact us by emailing communications@lymphoma-action.org.uk.

Postings that give diagnoses or medical and treatment advice are not acceptable. Information posted by other users should never be considered a substitute for advice that can only be provided by a health professional.

Please do not promote the use of alternative treatments.

Messages that are critical of individuals or health professionals, specific treatments, services or treatment units will be removed. This is to ensure that others are not discouraged from getting the help they need.

As a user you must be aware that groups and forums are monitored by charity staff and volunteers. Lymphoma Action actively monitors social media channels and inboxes Monday-Friday between the hours of 09:00 -17:00, but not at the weekends or public holidays.

Any messages deemed to be unacceptable will be removed. Anyone who persistently posts unacceptable messages or breaks rules will be permanently excluded from using this service (blocked).

You must only post material that you have written. You cannot post poetry or songs written by other people. You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, privacy, personal, publicity or proprietary rights.

We reserve the right to remove references to films, television programmes, books, newspapers, magazines, blogs, websites etc which we do not believe are appropriate.

We don’t allow spamming or advertising. Requests from organisations or the media must come via an approach to Lymphoma Action - please email communications@lymphoma-action.org.uk.

Lymphoma Action reserves the right to make changes to the terms of use when necessary and without notice, but we will do our best to ensure that any significant changes are made clear to all users.

Lymphoma Action reserves the right to withdraw the channel/group if it is found to not be serving the purpose for which it was set up.

Lymphoma Action cannot guarantee that you will be protected from malicious internet activity and recommends that you install internet protection software which includes antivirus, privacy protection and intruder prevention and detection. Lymphoma Action do not take responsibility for any private messages that occur between members of a group.

As detailed in our privacy policy, Lymphoma Action does not share your information with other charities, nor do we sell your data. Where we use third parties to process your information we ensure they have robust security and clearly defined data protection obligations as the data processor under their contract with us..

By uploading content or posting on our social media channels and groups you are giving us perpetual, royalty-free and non-exclusive license to use it in Lymphoma Action publications, appeals, press releases and other material without charge.
