Payroll giving

A tax effective way of giving via your salary.

Payroll Giving, also known as Give As You Earn, is a simple way to make regular, tax-free donations. It's a quick and easy way to donate to us.

What is Payroll Giving? Payroll Giving is a scheme that enables employees to give to any charity straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief. Any UK registered charity that is recognised by HMRC for tax purposes can receive gifts this way.

How do I donate? The scheme works by deducting your donation directly from your salary. Best of all, it’s tax free – so every £1 you give will only cost you 80p (or if you're a higher rate tax payer, 60p)
Ask your Payroll Department whether your company offers the scheme. If they do, you need to decide how much you would like to give each time you are paid. Every time you're paid, your Payroll Department deducts the agreed amount and sends it to us. Don’t forget matched giving as many employers offer Matched Giving schemes where they make a contribution towards fundraising that staff undertake including payroll giving.

Can I set up Payroll Giving at my workplace? Payroll giving is great for your company’s image and increasing staff morale, retention and recruitment.  The scheme also boosts your charity giving easily (and at little cost to you), while letting you see the amount of money your staff are raising. It also offers the opportunity to gain a Payroll Giving Quality Mark, a Government award given to organisations who implement Payroll Giving. To offer the scheme, employers need to be registered with a Payroll Giving Agency (PGA). It's easy and free to set up.
