World Radiography Day, 2023
Published on: 8 November 2023Marking the contribution of radiotherapy to medicine.

8 November celebrates the contributions of radiography to medical science, and gives thanks to healthcare professionals who work within this this field.
World Radiography Day started as a way of marking the anniversary of the discovery of X-rays by the physicist Wilhem Conrad Roentgen in 1895. The finding was pivotal in advancing diagnostics and treatments that are used in lymphoma today:
- imaging techniques, such as PET/CT scans and X-rays
- treatment with radiotherapy.
You can listen to our podcast below in which Professor George Mikhaeel, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundations Trust, explains what radiotherapy therapy is and when it is used in the treatment of lymphoma.
We’ve also recently updated our information about radiotherapy, which includes addressing frequently asked questions about this type of treatment.
