World Lymphoma Awareness Day is held on the 15 September every year, and is a day dedicated to raising awareness of lymphoma. It is a global initiative hosted by the Lymphoma Coalition, of which Lymphoma Action is a part of, and aims to raise public awareness about lymphoma symptoms, early diagnosis and treatment, as well as the wider impacts of living with lymphoma.

This year, we are joining the global lymphoma community by supporting the Lymphoma Coalition’s We can’t wait to focus on our feelings campaign. A lymphoma diagnosis can feel overwhelming, not only for the person affected by the condition, but also for their friends, family and carers. The emotional challenges that impact people affected by the condition can often be overlooked, but looking after your mental health and wellbeing is such an important part of living with and beyond lymphoma.

We have a host of resources to support with the emotional impact of living with lymphoma, including a recently recorded video with Dr Anna Lagerdahl about the impact of lymphoma on mental health and emotional wellbeing. In the video, Anna, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, looks at the psychological impact of cancer, including feelings of uncertainty and worry, and talks through various strategies that might be helpful.

On Tuesday 26 September, we will also be hosting a Special Focus Support Meeting on Mindfulness with guest speaker Angela Waind who will give a short talk and a guided mindfulness session. There will also be the opportunity for attendees to ask questions and talk to others who have similar experiences.

Don’t forget, our support services are available for anyone affected by lymphoma, including the Information and Support team who are here to offer emotional support to anyone affected by the condition, whether they have been given a diagnosis themselves or are supporting a loved one.

We're here for you, however you are affected by lymphoma.
