Today is World Cancer Day & Time to Talk Day!

Published on: 4 February 2021

Thursday 4 February is World Cancer Day, an international day to raise awareness and understanding of all types of cancer, including lymphoma. It is also Time to Talk Day, that encourages everyone across the UK to talk about mental health and wellbeing.

Here for you

These awareness days are important to us, as they give us the opportunity to reflect on our work, not only in raising awareness of lymphoma as the fifth most common cancer in the UK, but through the emotional support that we offer to people affected by the condition.

We know that a lymphoma diagnosis can feel overwhelming. Living with lymphoma can also be challenging, not only for the person who has been diagnosed but for their family and friends too. That is why we feel that supporting people living with lymphoma with their mental wellbeing, as well as their family and friends, is so important. In fact, it is the theme this year for our 35-year anniversary as it is something that is reflected in everything we do every day as a charity.

Our website has a host of information about the emotional impact of living with lymphoma, and our video on emotional wellbeing and mental health talks about tips and strategies for looking after your wellbeing, and what services are available to help. We are also here for anyone who may be supporting someone with lymphoma, our new ‘When someone close to you has lymphoma’ book provides tips to help people manage the physical, practical and emotional aspects of caring for someone with lymphoma. Don’t forget that our Information and Support team are here to offer support or a listening ear to anyone affected by lymphoma, whether they have been given a diagnosis themselves or are supporting a loved one.

We’re here for you, however you are affected by lymphoma.
