Wendover woofs raise over £2,000 for Lymphoma Action!

Over 70 dogs, adults and children took part in the walk on the 20 October through the beautiful scenery of Wendover Woods in Buckinghamshire. Our doggy supporters were treated to a special bandana to wear as a thank you for taking part, and received a rosette at the end of the 5k walk to say well done!

We heard lovely stories from participants about why they got involved including:

• 'Being at home on my own for most of my treatment, I only had my dog to turn to for comfort. I love the idea of an event that involves dogs, as I think animals can be a great help for people going through life changing circumstances'
  Tom who was diagnosed with lymphoma at 26 and just completed his last round of chemotherapy in September 2019.  
   
• 'Our dog has been a lifeline to me and my family - in fact, I’m not sure if we rescued her or if she rescued us! Taking part in the walk is the ideal way to give something back to Lymphoma Action, who have supported me through difficult times'
  Paula, 71, who is currently in remission from follicular lymphoma.

Photographer Jonathan Hilder also attended the event with his wife Mary and their three dogs Spice, Meg and Willow (pictured in the centre). Jonathan’s father, Tim Hilder, was one of the founders of Lymphoma Action and his mother Felicity later became a trustee of our charity and was honoured by the Queen for her work. He said: 'It was a pleasure to have attended and photographed the Muddy Mutts event, and we are delighted that it has gone so well'.

We would also like to say a special thank you for the support we received from businesses in the local area, including Unique Pets, Pets at Home Aylesbury, Pets Corner at Dobbies and Waitrose Aylesbury who all contributed free dog food and treats, poo bags and water bowls to help make the event a success.
