About lymphoma in children and young people
Lymphomas are the most common cancers in teenagers and young adults (15 to 24 years old) and the third most common group of cancers in childhood (0 to 14 years old), after leukaemia and brain and other central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) tumours.
Every year in the UK, more than 160 children and more than 500 teenagers and young people develop lymphoma.
Certain types of lymphoma are more common in children and young people than in older adults. Children and young people also have different needs from older adults. It is important to remember that treatment for lymphoma in children and young people is usually successful and most people lead a full life after lymphoma.
You do not have to carry the weight of a lymphoma diagnosis on your own. There are many people and organisations that can support you through this difficult time.
Don’t be afraid to ask your medical team for help if you are worried or to ask questions if you don’t understand something.
