Potato growing competition raises £730

Aylesbury Gardening Society presented Lymphoma Action with a cheque for £730 after organising a potato growing competition. The competition was organised by the Society in memory of their late treasurer, Graham Webster.
The challenge was to see who could produce the heaviest crop of potatoes between March and September. Over 270 people took part and, in return for a small donation, they were all given a 17 litre potato growing bag and a potato of their choice to grow. The competition was judged at the Society’s Annual Show with David Ridgway producing the heaviest crop. In addition Thomas Baldwin entered his crop into the Bucks County Show and won first prize!
Aylesbury Gardening Society chose Lymphoma Action as Graham Webster had supported the charity during his year as Aylesbury Mayor during 2010/11 and had continued to support the charity, helping at the Aylesbury Support Group and getting involved with many fundraising and awareness events.
We wish to say a massive thank you to the Aylesbury Gardening Society, and to all who took part in the Graham Webster Potato Challenge, in raising this fantastic amount for our charity. We remember Graham as a wonderful man who made a real difference to the community.
