One Cancer Voice: A manifesto for people living with cancer

Published on: 13 November 2019

Today - in collaboration with 28 charities - we’ve launched a manifesto for people living with cancer. We’re calling on the next Government to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.

One Cancer Voice manifesto

As the population living with cancer grows, we must ensure that people are not just surviving longer, but living well too. The #OneCancerVoice manifesto makes recommendations covering six key areas:

  1. Putting the right staff in place
  2. Diagnosing cancer earlier
  3. Ensuring people living with cancer have access to the appropriate treatment and psychological support
  4. Supporting people living with cancer beyond their treatment
  5. Preserving the UK’s status as a world-leader in cancer research
  6. Preventing people from developing cancer

The next Government has an opportunity to drive up the UK’s survival rates to be among the best in the world. The policy recommendations in this manifesto – based on our combined expertise, evidence and knowledge – should be viewed by any new Government not as an exhaustive list, but instead as a starting point for improving treatment and care for all people living with cancer.

With 1 in 2 people in the UK diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, this could improve millions of lives and touch every family in the country.

Want to show your support?

Please share this manifesto on social media using the hashtag #OneCancerVoice to help us reach key decision-makers across the political spectrum.

The manifesto will also be launched at a joint cancer sector hustings event in late November.
