Mental Health Awareness Week

Published on: 13 May 2024

‘Moving more for mental health’ is the theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

Let's move more for our mental health

This year, Mental Health Awareness week runs from 13 to 19 May and asks people to move more to improve their mental health.

We know that exercise can be a great way to boost our wellbeing. However, lots of people find it difficult to get moving. In recognition of this, the aim of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week campaign is to help people build movement into day-to-day life. For example, you could:

  • take a short walk
  • dance to some music at home
  • do some stretches while you're watching or reading something
  • carry some shopping.

You can find information about exercise and physical activity and a set of health and wellbeing resources on our website.

You could also take part in a Lymphoma Action Bridges Walk to help raise money and awareness to support people affected by lymphoma.

The NHS website also has information about exercise, as well as videos that demonstrate strength and flexibility exercises.

Corrin, diagnosed with lymphoma

If you’re affected by lymphoma, find out from your medical team which types of exercise are suitable for you. You can also seek advice from your doctors about any safety precautions you should take, particularly if you’ve had treatment for lymphoma.

You can find out more about Mental Health Awareness week on the Mental Health Foundation website.
