If you have a health concern please don’t put it off - contact your GP.

The NHS has re-issued a plea to the UK public to seek medical help if they are worried that they are showing any signs or symptoms of cancer. It comes as a recent survey of 2,178 people found that nearly half of those who took part would delay or not seek medical help at all owing to the coronavirus pandemic. A fifth (22%) surveyed said they would not want to burden the NHS, and a similar proportion said that fear of getting coronavirus or passing it onto others was a major reason for not getting help.

The ‘Help us Help you’ campaign encourages the public to contact their GP if they are worried about a symptom that could be cancer, and for those who are already being treated for a health issue to keep their routine appointments.  A spokesperson for the campaign said: “the NHS has introduced a range of measures to ensure the safety of patients, including COVID-secure wards and phone and digital appointments. We would like to reassure the public that your NHS is here to see you safely – please help us, help you.”

With lymphoma being the fifth most common cancer in the UK, we also urge anyone who is concerned that they may be experiencing symptoms of lymphoma not to put off booking an appointment with their GP.
