Carole

Carole talks about how her specialist lymphoma nurse helped her to take back control of her life.

Carole, diagnosed in 1984.

I'm Carole and I've been living with non-Hodgkin follicular lymphoma for over 30 years.

Like many others living with lymphatic cancer, at times my journey has been really difficult. I worried about how I could carry on with a "normal" life - fitting my treatment around being a wife and mother, having enough energy to go to work. I was constantly surprised by the physical and emotional toll that the treatment took on me.

Then I met Trish, a clinical nurse specialist who had received lymphoma specific training from Lymphoma Action. Trish's practical advice and emotional support gave me the lifeline I really needed and made a huge difference to me. She knew about the different types of lymphoma and, for the first time, I felt I'd met someone who really understood what I was going through.

Her expertise gave me the strength to believe I could get through my treatment, manage my illness and take back control of my life. Trish was there when I needed someone most.

With one person diagnosed with lymphoma every 27 minutes in the UK, the need for specialist support is greater than ever.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. With specialist support from my nurse, I have taken back control of my life, please help to give others the same hope and opportunity.
