Every year, the Carers Week campaign sets out to highlight the challenges that unpaid carers face and to recognise the contribution they make to families and communities in the UK.

Carers need to be recognised for the difficulties they experience and should be able to access any information they might need.

Am I a carer?

A carer is anyone who looks after someone else without being paid for it. This can include supporting a family member, partner or friend, whether or not you live with them. There’s no legal definition of how much time you should care for someone during a week – it could be any length of time from a few hours a day to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
