Updated guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of people with follicular lymphoma.

British Society of Haematology

New guidelines published by the British Society of Haematology (BSH) provide healthcare professionals with evidence-based guidance on the diagnosis and management of people with follicular lymphoma.

The guidelines have been updated to include developments in the understanding of follicular lymphoma and advances in treatment since the previous guidelines were published in 2011. They cover diagnosis and imaging, treatment recommendations and long-term follow-up for people with follicular lymphoma.

The updated guidelines focus on managing people with follicular lymphoma as individuals, with treatment tailored to their particular needs. They also emphasise the need to consider the risk of long-term complications, particularly given the improvement in outlook for people with follicular lymphoma in the last 30 years. The guidelines also acknowledge the role of clinical nurse specialists and patient groups in providing psychological support for people living with and beyond follicular lymphoma. Finally, the guidelines discuss new treatments that are being investigated for follicular lymphoma.
