Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards
Published on: 6 June 2023Our virtual recognition ceremony returned for its second year to celebrate the achievements of our wonderful volunteers.
Last night saw the return of our Volunteer Recognition Awards! Our annual event celebrates the achievements of our volunteers who dedicate their time, skills and expertise to our charity, and recognises the impact they make on the lives of people affected by lymphoma. We were joined in our virtual ceremony by journalist and author Sarah Standing, and broadcaster Emma Forbes who presented 23 awards for length of service, and seven for outstanding contributions.
There were many highlights from the evening, including five of our Live your Life facilitators who have been with us since the programme began receiving awards for five years of service. Several members of our Medical Advisory Panel also received length of service awards, a number of whom are regular speakers at our Lymphoma Management course, and have supported our webinars. We also presented a special commendation award in memory of one of our volunteers who supported our work in so many ways over a number of years.
“We want to congratulate all of our volunteers for their well-deserved awards,” says Carly Benton, Volunteering Development Manager at Lymphoma Action. “Our volunteers are at the heart of the work we do to support people affected by lymphoma, and they make many of our services and activities possible. Through their support and commitment, we can continue to provide vital information and support to people affected by the UK’s fifth most common cancer.”
“To be able to support and recognise those that volunteer their time and skills to Lymphoma Action is both an honour and a privilege,” adds host Sarah Standing. “Having received treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma myself, this is a charity very close to my heart as I have seen first-hand what a comforting hand it holds out to people affected by lymphoma and their families.”
