A group of eight supporters are on their way to East Africa today, where they will take on an epic trek challenge to raise funds for Lymphoma Action. The trek will cover 90km of jagged hills, grassy plains and awe-inspiring wilderness, across the Great Rift Valley in Kenya over nine days from 3 - 11 March.

The trekkers have been training hard and depart with a mixture of nerves and excitement! “The best way to describe how I feel is ‘happrehensive’. I’m so happy to have achieved my fundraising target and in doing so shown my poorly sister how much she’s loved. At the same time I’m very apprehensive about the challenge ahead. I’m all for stepping outside my comfort zone but this trek is a million miles away from my normal!” says Ali O’Neill, who is trekking for her sister.

Danny Grainger is trekking for his mum and his grandad who have both experienced lymphoma “I’ve been training for the challenge over the past few months by going on plenty of long walks and sharing my story and journey on social media - the response has been overwhelming! I’m proud to be supporting Lymphoma Action and ready for an adventure of a lifetime!” he says.

Sue MacGillivray is taking on the challenge for her mother and her friend who have both had lymphoma. “I’m feeling excited and raring to go for this amazing Charity. I am beyond excited about this challenge of a lifetime and have been preparing every day. I’ve had my moments of apprehension, but now those anxieties have passed and I’m focused on raising vital funds for Lymphoma Action” she says.

“We want to say a huge thank you to all of our Kenya trekkers for their support” says Amy Billington, Senior Fundraising Manager at Lymphoma Action. “We truly commend their strength and determination, not only to be fit and ready for the challenge ahead but to have helped us to raise awareness and vital funds along the way! Our vision is to ensure nobody has to face lymphoma alone and with amazing people supporting us like this we can move closer to achieving that.”
