World Cancer Day 2025
Published on: 4 February 2025Addressing the unique challenges faced by people living with cancer.

Today is World Cancer Day, an international initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to raise awareness about cancer, and address the issues experienced by people living with a cancer diagnosis.
This year marks the start of the UICC’s new three-year “United by Unique” campaign that asks for healthcare that prioritises the individual. The campaign seeks to look beyond a medical diagnosis of cancer, and to explore a people-centred approach to care that focuses on individual needs with compassion and empathy. Over the course of the three years, the campaign will move from raising awareness of the human stories behind people’s experiences with cancer, to taking action to make sure that healthcare sees ‘the person before the patient.’
At Lymphoma Action, we support the need for a cancer care model that allows decision-making to be shared between individuals, carers and healthcare professionals, fosters a culture of care and communication, and acknowledges that a person’s lived experience makes them experts on their own need.
Our trusted books and information serve to help people understand their lymphoma and treatment so they feel confident to have informed conversations with their medical team about their care. Our range of support services are also available for anyone affected by lymphoma, including friends, family members and carers who are pivotal in supporting the unique needs of their loved one.
We are here at every step in a person’s personal experience with lymphoma, from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
