Warm wishes for the festive season
Published on: 20 December 2024Thank you for your support in 2024.
As 2024 is drawing to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your support during another busy year here at Lymphoma Action! Thanks to you, we have been able to reach even more people by raising awareness about lymphoma and building on the support we offer to those affected by the condition. Here are just a few highlights from the year.
We launched our new online Preparing for Treatment Service, designed for people who are about to start treatment after a new diagnosis of lymphoma, or after a period of active monitoring or remission. Our Regional Lymphoma Days saw a welcome return to face-to-face support for members of our community and offered the unique opportunity for people to hear from experts and meet others affected by lymphoma.
We expanded our suite of Online Support Meetings, and Lymphoma Matters magazine was launched in a brand new digital format – adding to our library of online resources. Our Lymphoma Symptoms animation went on to win an award in the People’s Choice category at the Smiley Charity Film Awards! We were delighted that our animation could be shared with a wider audience to increase awareness about the symptoms of lymphoma. We also reached an important milestone in our Facebook Support Group by reaching 5,000 members who offer support and a valued sense of community.
1,204 people in the UK completed the 2024 Global Survey conducted by the Lymphoma Coalition, of which Lymphoma Action is a founding member. The findings have now been published and we are truly grateful to everyone who took part in the survey which seeks to understand the patient experience of lymphoma, as well as the impact of treatment and care.
September saw the return of our Let’s talk lymphoma campaign for Blood Cancer Awareness Month. 1,100 people came forward to talk lymphoma with us by supporting our work, handing out our awareness packs or by sharing their own experiences with lymphoma on our website, with the press or on social media. Over £100,000 was raised to support our work – making it our biggest Blood Cancer Awareness Month ever! 2024 also saw 61 supporters sign up to take part in our double zipline challenge and over 300 supporters took part in our flagship Bridges of London walk to raise funds and awareness about lymphoma.
A special thanks also goes to our wonderful volunteers who have given over 4,200 hours of their time through 871 activities. This support is integral to the work we do to support people affected by lymphoma.
From the whole team here at Lymphoma Action, we want to thank everyone in our lymphoma community who has supported our work this year. Thanks to you, we can continue to make sure that no one has to face lymphoma alone.
Season's greetings and best wishes to you and yours for the coming year.
