UK Government backs Distance Aware campaign

Following on from the launch of our free Distance Aware badge as part of an initiative with NHS Wales, the Department of Health and Social Care and the UK Government have now confirmed their endorsement of the #DistanceAware campaign.

Distance Aware Badge

We are one of the first charities in the UK to produce a Distance Aware badge to support people who may have concerns around staying safe when outside their homes as UK lockdown and shielding restrictions continue to ease. The design on our badge has been developed by NHS Wales as part of their #DistanceAware initiative. The scheme was established to give individuals and organisations the means to politely remind others to maintain respectful social distancing where possible. This week, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the UK Government have confirmed that they will be endorsing the campaign.

“We are absolutely delighted that the #DistanceAware initiative has now received formal backing from the DHSC and the UK Government” says Karen Rabjohn, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Lymphoma Action. “This is a huge step forward for us, NHS Wales and other UK charities who are working together with the aim of making the badge the recognised symbol across the UK for those who wish to maintain a safe distance from others when outside.”

Our Distance Aware badges form part of our free Distance Aware packs available to order here.
