Saying thank you on International Nurses' Day 2020

Published on: 12 May 2020

To mark International Nurses' Day on 12 May, we would like to thank all the nurses caring for people with lymphoma.

International Nurses Day thank you

Tuesday 12 May is International Nurses' Day – a worldwide celebration of the nursing profession, held on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. This year is the 200th anniversary of Nightingale’s birth and is a time when nurses across the world are having to unite in responding to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

We’d like to say a special thank you to all the nurses who care for people with lymphoma. We hear on a daily basis about the difference that nurses make to people’s lives.

They say that leaving the security of the hospital can feel like a loss. I have said ‘Thank you’ more in the past few months than in all my life before. And it doesn’t feel enough, given how amazing people have been.

We rely on nurses to help review and distribute our lymphoma information and to support our Live your Life self-management workshops held throughout the UK to support people living with and beyond lymphoma.

For more than 11 years, we have been supporting nurses through our dedicated education and training events. Our highly regarded lymphoma-specific training programmes are recognised as a valuable contribution towards nurse’s continuous development (CPD). We may not be able to gather in rooms around the UK at the moment, but we are planning ways to continue to support nurses throughout the UK.
