This Easter, we have an egg-citing new challenge… sponsored bunny hops! Little ones can take part in our fun LEAP for lymphoma activity from home by decorating their very own bunny ears, collecting sponsorship money online and leaping into action! It’s a fun and easy activity for young children to take part in, and encourages them to get creative and stay active whilst they are at home. Do send us your photos of your little leaping bunnies - we will even give a prize for the best pair of bunny ears!
The fun idea originally came from Sue, one of our wonderful supporters who works as a yoga and mindfulness trainer for young children. Prior to the recent closure of schools, she encouraged a number of primary schools and nurseries that she was working with to take part. The children she worked with were jumping their ‘bunny hops’ 27 times to mark the fact that every 27 minutes, someone is diagnosed with lymphoma. Sue has raised over £700 for us, and wanted to raise awareness of the condition and the work of Lymphoma Action. It is a cause close to her heart, as Sue sadly lost her husband to lymphoma last year.
“I really wanted to help others who are going through a similar situation” she says. “I also think it is really important to raise awareness of the condition amongst young people. By taking part in an activity like this, children now have an awareness of blood cancer that they will take with them as they grow into young adults.”
“We are so grateful to Sue for her support” adds Sarah Thorn, Community and Partnerships Manager at Lymphoma Action. “LEAP for lymphoma is such a fantastic idea. Not only does it help raise funds for us to continue our work, but it also increases awareness around lymphoma and the work we do as a charity to support those affected by the condition.”
