The Health Information Week campaign promotes high-quality health information, and aims to improve quality of life by helping people to manage illnesses effectively. We’re proud of our high-quality and trustworthy resources for people affected by lymphoma.
The week focuses on different aspects of physical and mental health and wellbeing, as well as on health literacy.
Health Information Week is split into daily themes:
- Monday 20th: Winter health
- Tuesday 21st: Mental health
- Wednesday 22nd: Wellbeing
- Thursday 23rd: Health literacy and misinformation
- Friday 24th: Digital literacy
Winter health
In Winter, certain illnesses are more common. Vaccinations can help to protect you from infectious diseases.
It is important to practice good personal hygiene, stay active in winter, and eat a healthy diet, to help you stay well.
Vitamin D supplements are recommended for autumn and winter in the UK as your skin isn’t exposed to enough sunlight to make enough in those seasons.
Mental health
A diagnosis of lymphoma can have a significant impact on your mental health. For many people, winter can worsen this – particularly if you are struggling with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), or with feeling isolated in the winter months. We provide support to help you and your loved ones:
- Our Helpline Services are open Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm.
- Our Buddy Service aims to match you with somebody who is able to relate to your experience, whether you are receiving lymphoma treatment yourself or a loved one is.
- Our Closed Facebook Support Group is a valuable way to be in touch with others who are in a similar situation.
- We also have information about the emotional impact of living with lymphoma, including how to communicate with the people around you, and specifically if someone close to you has lymphoma.
Wellbeing
You might be interested in our health and wellbeing resources, which offer strategies and tools that might be helpful in supporting positive wellbeing.

Health literacy and misinformation
Health literacy focuses on providing accessible information to individuals so that they can make informed decisions about their health and care.
At Lymphoma Action, we are dedicated to providing high quality information backed by evidence and reviewed by both experts in the field as well as users of our services. We are an accredited Patient Information Forum (PIF) tick member, an independently-assessed quality mark which recognises our production of trustworthy health information.

At Lymphoma Action, we aim to make sure that our information is accessible to everyone, regardless of their education level or digital literacy. We provide information in a range of formats in order to reach as many people as possible.
- Our Easy Reads cover different aspects of life with lymphoma using large print, photos and pictures to explain what is happening.
- Our animations help to explain what lymphoma is, and they are also available as translations to Polish, Punjabi and Romanian.
