Fertility preservation for young men
Published on: 31 January 2025New resource to help young men affected by cancer consider fertility preservation options.

Leeds Beckett University and The University of Edinburgh have developed free resources to help young people affected by cancer consider their fertility preservation options.
Following the success of their Cancer, Fertility and Me printed and online resources for young women, the team are expanding the project, so that young men can also benefit from it.
The new resource is designed to raise awareness of the ways in which cancer treatment can affect fertility, and to help young men think about preserving their fertility. The team hope that it will aid them in preparing to have conversations with their cancer team and fertility specialists, as well as empowering them to feel confident in talking about their situation with a partner, family and friends.
Who can take part?
Young men who:
- are currently aged 16 years or over and living in the UK
- received a cancer diagnosis at least 12 months ago
- were aged 11-25 years old at the time of their diagnosis.
If you meet the above criteria, the Cancer, Fertility and Me team are keen to talk to you and gather your view on a new resource they have developed. You will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire and one online interview.
