About our group
Working with Maggie's Cheltenham and our local Clinical Nurse Specialist we meet on either a weekday evening or a weekend morning. Our Thursday evening meetings usually have a guest speaker.
We know there are many rural areas around Cheltenham, so having the two meeting options to connect with others has proved very popular.
Going to a meeting
Anyone affected by lymphoma (minimum age 18 years) can attend a Lymphoma Action support group. You don't have to book or even let us know beforehand that you are coming along - just turn up, you'll be made welcome.
There is no charge for attending a Lymphoma Action support group, though donations help us to continue to provide local support.
At your first meeting, you will complete a registration form, which also enables us to keep in touch with you about future meetings. You can request other types of information, including our popular Lymphoma matters magazine, on the same form.
You can attend our support groups as often and for as long as you need - you aren't expected to come to every meeting and don't have to tell us if you won't be there. If you move on but then want to come back, perhaps because of a change to your lymphoma, that's fine, too.
Maggie’s Centre, The Lodge, (near Cheltenham General Hospital), College Baths Road, Cheltenham GL53 7QB.
Directions by car
You’ll need to park in the Lido Car Park which is opposite the entrance to the Oncology Centre at the rear of Cheltenham General Hospital.
The car park is Pay and Display in advance. Depending on which meeting you go the parking may cost from £1.70 to £3.30 (note it's free after 6pm). You can pay with coins or Pay by Phone facility.
Directions on foot
You’ll need to walk down into College Baths Road with the Lido behind you. Pass the Fire Station on your left and then you’ll see a long garden with a large stainless steel water sculpture with a white garden path running beside it.
The blue Maggie’s sign is situated at the front of the garden on a small grassy mound. Carry on up the winding path to the front door. The button to press to open the door is on a chrome circular post on your left just before you see the door which is tucked around the corner.
How we can support you
A diagnosis of lymphoma can sometimes feel overwhelming and it can be helpful to reach out for support. We have many different services and ways in which we offer you support, whether you have lymphoma yourself or you know someone who has. Support groups are a place where you can meet other people affected by lymphoma, share your experiences and receive information in a mutually supportive environment.
Whether you are new to lymphoma or you have been living with the condition for a while, you may have questions or concerns or maybe you'd just like to talk things through with someone who understands. You can contact our helpline services between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, via phone, email and Live Chat. Find out more.
